  • Other information required by the Marketplace or applicable law

We may retain authorization and enrollment records for the period required by federal or state law, insurance carriers, or applicable Marketplace agreements.

9. HIPAA and Health Information

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) applies to covered entities and their business associates in circumstances defined by law. Sunset Insurance Group may not be a HIPAA-covered entity in every interaction.

When we receive protected health information while acting for a covered entity or health plan, we will handle that information in accordance with applicable agreements and legal requirements. Other health-related information may be protected by different federal or state privacy and insurance laws.

Nothing in this Privacy Policy expands or limits rights that apply under HIPAA or another applicable law.

Before fulfilling a request involving personal or sensitive information, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority.

If an authorized representative submits a request for you, we may require written authorization or other evidence demonstrating the representative’s authority to act on your behalf.

Our website and services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through the website.
